The Topkapı Palace was the primary residence of the Ottoman sultans for approximately 400 years (1465–1856) of their 624-years reign. Palace was built upon a 700.000 square meters area on an Eastern Roman Acropolis located at the Istanbul Peninsula between the Sea of Marmara, Bosphorus and the Golden Horn.
