The Sea World Culture and Arts Center is the first building by Maki and Associates in China. Designed in 2011, it is a large design museum jointly established by the British National Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and China Merchants Group Ltd, and operated by the integrated innovative cultural design platform Design Society. The Arts Center has two main galleries for large-scale temporary exhibitions: the V&A Gallery and the Main Gallery, bringing world-class design-centered galleries to Shenzhen along with exhibits on other topics, restaurants, shopping, public event spaces and a rooftop garden.
