Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, Cloudland Canyon is one of the largest and most scenic parks in the state. Home to thousand-foot deep canyons, sandstone cliffs, wild caves, waterfalls, cascading creeks, dense woodland and abundant wildlife, the park offers ample outdoor recreation. Hiking and mountain biking trails abound. The most popular hiking paths include the short Overlook Trail, strenuous Waterfalls Trail and moderate West Rim Loop Trail. Mountain biking is available at the newly developed Five Points Recreation Area and along the Cloudland Connector Trail. The park also offers disc golf, a fishing pond, trails for horseback riding, picnicking and overlooks.

The Five Point Recreation Area is a network of multi-use trails on the scenic plateau of Lookout Mountain. Five Points offers 25 miles of interconnected singletrack trails that feature steep climbs, rolling descents, and technical features through the mountain gorges and former mining areas surrounding Lula Lake. It also includes the Cloudland Connector Trail (CCT), which links Cloudland Canyon State Park to the Lula Lake Land Trust on Lookout Mountain in North Georgia, and eventually, all the way into downtown Chattanooga.

Lookout Mountain Flight Park is the largest and most popular full-time hang gliding school in the United States. Each year, the school teaches, certifies and solos five times as many pilots as any other school. Hang gliders launch from 1,340-foot McCarty's Bluff. When the park is open, morning classes are offered (weather permitting) every day of the year (except Christmas Day). Hang gliding lessons and tandem flights are given by certified instructors. There are also special events and clinics, and lesson package discounts for groups of five or more.
