Catacombes de Paris

Historical landmark
1 km away
This Parisian ossuary, covering 11,000 m² of underground space is called the Catacombes in reference to the Catacombs of Rome. Visitors can access the Catacombes from Place Denfert-Rochereau. Six million bones from various Parisian cemeteries rest in the 1.7 km labyrinth of tunnels. The height of the passages is 1.8 m and the temperature is 14 degrees. The tour is not recommended for those suffering from cardiac or respiratory failure, sensitive individuals and unaccompanied children. An unusual and fascinating tour! Please note that the exit is located at 36 rue Rémy Dumoncel.

Buttes aux cailles

Recreation
1 km away
This churchless village owes its name not to birds but to a certain Monsieur Caille, who planted vines here around 1540. Although the libertarian spirit has disappeared with time, good humour remains around the little houses with flowers, small streets and cobbled alleyways such as the rues de l’Espérance, des Cinq-Diamants, and de la Butteaux-Cailles, bars and co-op run cafes and walls tattooed with poetic Miss.Tic stencils.

Parc Montsouris

Park
1 km away
Parc Montsouris is a public park in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, at the southern edge of Paris directly south of the center. Opened in 1869, Parc Montsouris is one of the four large urban public parks, along with the Bois de Boulogne, the Bois de Vincennes and the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, created by Emperor Napoleon III and his Prefect of the Seine, Baron Haussmann, at each of the cardinal points of the compass around the city, in order to provide green space and recreation for the rapidly growing population of Paris. The park is 15.5 hectares in area, and is designed as an English landscape garden.

Panthéon

Historical landmark
2 km away
The Panthéon is a building in the Latin Quarter in Paris. It was originally built as a church dedicated to St. Genevieve but, after many changes, now functions as a secular mausoleum containing the remains of distinguished French citizens. It is an early example of neoclassicism, with a façade modeled on the Pantheon in Rome, surmounted by a dome that owes some of its character to Bramante's "Tempietto". Located in the 5th arrondissement on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, the Panthéon looks out over all of Paris. Designer Jacques-Germain Soufflot had the intention of combining the lightness and brightness of the gothic cathedral with classical principles, but its role as a mausoleum required the great Gothic windows to be blocked.

Eiffel Tower

Historical landmark
5 km away
The Eiffel Tower was built by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, which was to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the French Revolution. Its construction in 2 years, 2 months and 5 days was a veritable technical and architectural achievement. "Utopia achieved", a symbol of technological prowess, at the end of the 19th Century it was a demonstration of French engineering personified by Gustave Eiffel, and a defining moment of the industrial era. It was met immediately with tremendous success.
