Treowen House is located in Monmouth, Wales. It is a noble mansion occupying a commanding situation from whence and surveys some of the most interesting scenes in Monmouthshire. A correspondent dignity pervades the whole of the interior. A staircase two yards wide, of 72 steps, with balustrades, the newels on the quarterspaces two feet round, the whole in solid oak, which still remains perfect, stands unrivalled in the Kingdom." Despite the imposing architecture, Treowen's halls and galleries have rung to the boisterous sounds of playing children over the centuries. But be reminded Treowen is an utterly unspoilt architectural masterpiece. It is a robust and beautiful example of another age. The facilities are comfortable and the rooms magnificent but they are as they were in William Jones' day. Though all rooms except the third floor, which have electric convector heaters, have central heating, Treowen is still a place for sensible clothes and warm fires in winter and cool, airy summer holidays. Treowen offers capacious accommodation for very large parties - twelve bedrooms (5 double, 2 twins, 4 either twin or double and 1 family room with a double and a single bed) and reception rooms to match. All the beds are supplied with bedding; there are in addition ten camp beds and two cots without bedding available. The dining room has an open fireplace and two refectory tables seating thirty in comfort. Up to forty can be seated in the dining room or if you feel more expansive the banqueting hall will seat eighty five to ninety. There are two sitting rooms on the ground floor, the former nursery and the Oak room - an oak paneled gem with open fireplace. The long drawing room on the first floor is a room for concerts and celebrations - huge open fireplace and grand piano. The banqueting hall now has its original passage screen and the huge open fireplace has been restored - table tennis and pool table.
