The Orpheum Theatre is truly one of Memphis' most remarkable success stories; a theatre able to overcome a variety of adversities that ranged from several untimely bankruptcies, a devastating fire, the decay of downtown Memphis, and the threat of demolition for the construction of an office complex. Yet the "South's Finest Theatre" rose above all this and is the Mid-South’s premiere performing arts center. On an average annual basis, The Orpheum has presented more Broadway touring productions than any other theater in the country. In addition to bringing the finest Broadway Productions to the area, a wide array of entertainers have graced the Orpheum's stage including Cary Grant, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Kenny G, Chuck Mangione, Stacy Keach, Patti LaBelle, Robert Goulet, Dorothy Hamill, Harry Connick, Jr., Tom Jones and the Vienna Choir Boys to name a few. Two of Memphis' local arts groups, Ballet Memphis and Opera Memphis, also call The Orpheum home.

It is located at 3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard in the vast Whitehaven community about 9 miles (14.5 km) from Downtown and less than four miles (6 km) north of the Mississippi border.[5] It currently serves as a museum. It was opened to the public on June 7, 1982. The site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1991, and declared a National Historic Landmark on March 27, 2006. Graceland has become one of the most-visited private homes in America with over 600,000 visitors a year, behind the White House.[6] Elvis Presley died at the estate on August 16, 1977. Presley, his parents Gladys and Vernon Presley, and his grandmother, are buried there in what is called the Meditation Garden. A memorial gravestone for Presley's stillborn twin brother, Jesse Garon, is also at the site.

The South Main Historic Art District is filled with art galleries, shops, restaurants and great tourist attractions like the Arcade Restaurant, Earnestine & Hazel's and the National Civil Rights Museum. The main artery is the trolley line that runs down South Main Street EXPERIENCE: While visiting the South Main Historic Art District, make sure you do not miss the National Civil Rights Museum, located at the Lorraine Motel, chronicles key episodes of the American civil rights movement. Top that off with the treasure of shops and galleries offering art, objects and apparel from local craftspeople and designers as well as internationally known artists. And after all the touring and shopping, you'll need to stop in one of the many Memphis-favorite eateries like Earnestine & Hazel's, the famous former brothel and the Arcade Restaurant known for their sweet potato pancakes. The district has been featured in many films such as The Firm, 21 Grams, Hustle and Flow, Walk the Line, Black Snake Moan, Great Balls of Fire, The Client and more. The views of the Memphis skyline and the Mississippi River from the South Main Historic Art District truly are breathtaking. HISTORY: Located in downtown Memphis encompassing an area that runs from Linden to Crump, north to south, and Third to the Mississippi River, east to west. This district grew up in the hustle and bustle of the boom era of the train stations – Union Station and Central Station. Most of the South Main buildings were built between 1910 and 1920. The area's businesses catered to the railroad passengers and employees – hotels, bars, restaurants and other small businesses. But when railroad days ended in the 1960s, that marked the end of South Main. It became warehouses and empty buildings. In 1982 eleven blocks and 105 buildings were designated as an Historic District and the early 90s the district started its comeback. Today there are restaurants, upscale apartments, galleries, photographers, graphic designers and retail with more and more buildings being renovated for lofts, condos and apartments. The South Main Historic Arts District attracts a diverse group of people who love the urban living experience. INSIDERS TIP: There is a street festival the last Friday of every month known as Trolley Night where all of the businesses open and serve wine from 6-9pm. This is the largest monthly held public event in the city and is a great way to introduce people to the eclectic, artsy community of South Main.

If you want to play like a rock star, Memphis has you covered. We may not be able to give you the talent, but we can make sure that you have the proper gear to keep you rockin’ all night long. Gibson Guitar Factory and St. Blues Guitar Workshop build guitars, from start to finish, right here in the Mid South. While the methods between the two shops are very different, one thing is certain: you’ll walk out of there with an amazing instrument and a piece of music history. Gibson Guitar Factory The Memphis branch of Gibson Guitar Factory opened in 1999, although the company dates back to the early 1900s. While the factories in Bozeman, Montana and Nashville, Tennessee build all of the electric models, purists come to Memphis for the hollow body and semi-hollow body, semi-acoustic guitars.
