Macao attracts over 30 millions visitor annually, is a meeting point for Eastern and Western business and cultural exchanges with the city functioning as a trading platform for many centuries. Macau’s 25 UNESCO Heritage sites, centuries-old ruins and structures, reflect its strong Asian identity and long history as a Portuguese settlement. Macao continues to diversify and expand its product offering for the international MICE market including new activities, attractions, accommodation and venues. These developments along with improved accessibility via the Hong Kong - Macao - Zhuhai road bridge will open up new market opportunities for the attraction of MICE business. Take for example of the dining scene, Macau now boasts 16 Michelin star restaurants. An incredible feat in such a short space of time and for a city of 640,000 people and a landmass of only 30sqkms. According to the latest Asia Pacific City Ranking Report which issued by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Macao was positioned at 59th in 2012 and 17th in 2016, up 42 places between 4 years’ time.

Over the years, Macao’s MICE industry has been growing significantly, the number of conventions and exhibitions held in Macao increased almost 4 fold between 2002 and 2016, from about 260 events to 1276 , number of participants is also increased to over 1.7 million.
