The Kitchener Market is a vibrant, urban market that attracts visitors from near and far. There are a number of vendors, including many international cuisine vendors serving ethnically diverse meals. The building itself features 50-foot transparent ceilings and walls of windows that fill the market with natural light. “The market is not a building, it’s a community.” Visitors can also enjoy a number of cooking classes taught by professional, local chefs. With 20 students, or less, the hands-on classes leave enough time for students to enjoy their creations after the lesson.

The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery is a long-standing site of excellence and a destination for contemporary art for international tourists and regional citizens. We present critically-acclaimed exhibitions that challenge ideas and perceptions of the definitions of art, craft and design today. With an emphasis on Canadian artists, our exhibitions also support international artists. Our Gallery Shop is recognized on its own merits as a fine craft gallery, showing the best of Canadian ceramic and glass work. A relevant and dynamic cultural organization, the Gallery provides supportive education programs to people from across the Region. Using exhibitions as a starting point, individuals develop arts vocabulary, arts appreciation and cultivate confidence in their interpretation of contemporary artworks. People who return to The Clay & Glass many times come to understand that the Gallery is a space with dynamic exhibitions, ever-changing hands-on programs and multiple opportunities for learning.

Downtown Kitchener is situated on land that is the traditional home of the Neutral, Haudenosaunee (Ho-deh-no-show-nee) and Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-nah-bay) Peoples. We extend our respect to all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples for their past and present contributions to this land. We also recognize and respect the cultural diversity that First Nations, Métis and Inuit people bring to both Downtown Kitchener and the City of Kitchener. We recognize and appreciate their historic connection to this place and the contributions Indigenous peoples have made in shaping and strengthening this community. The Joseph Schneider Haus National Historic Site is a dynamic community museum located in downtown Kitchener. A local landmark and Kitchener's oldest dwelling, the 1816 homestead was restored and furnished, then opened as a living history museum in 1981. The heart of the complex is the fine Georgian-frame farmhouse built by one of the area's earliest non-Aboriginal settlers, Joseph Schneider, a Pennsylvania-German Mennonite. Today, history comes to life as costumed staff demonstrate traditional tasks in step with the seasons. Come by for a visit and enjoy hands on activities, workshops, special events, gallery exhibits and more!

Victoria Park opened in 1896, making it our oldest park. Some of the original features remain, including an iron bridge, flower beds and hundreds of trees and shrubs. The park is also home to a historic pavilion, which is a popular event and wedding venue. Walk around Victoria Park lake, crossing back and forth over numerous bridges, visit the band stand on Roos Island and take in some of Kitchener’s largest park trees in formal park setting. In the winter, enjoy outdoor skating on the Victoria Park outdoor ice rinks.

Waterloo Region Museum is the largest community museum in Ontario. Our main gallery tells the story of Waterloo Region and our feature gallery showcases local and travelling exhibits from around the world. Waterloo Region Museum is open daily and is the entrance to Doon Heritage Village. Doon Heritage Village is a picturesque 60 acre living history village that shows visitors what life was like in Waterloo Region in 1914. The village is open seasonally from May 1 to December 23. One admission price includes entry to the museum exhibit galleries and village.

Centre In The Square is the region’s largest and busiest performing arts centre. Last year, we staged more than 180 events to more than 190,000 people. For more than 30 years, we have played a leading role in showcasing the best local and international performing arts. Our venue boasts a main hall which is acknowledged as a technically state-of-the-art theatre making it acoustically superior and widely regarded as one of the finest performance spaces in North America. It was designed by Rieder, Hymmen and Lobban, and opened in September 1980.

Every week, hundreds of vendors bring you Ontario's farm-fresh foods, crafts, imported goods, and most things imaginable. You’ll also find amazing ready-to-eat foods, so bring your appetite! Market vendors are also located in the Peddlar's Village building and in a lively outdoor area where - depending on the season - you'll find an eclectic mix of items from local producers, Old Order Mennonite farmers, plus a quality flea market, and small farm animals.
