Set in the illustrious grounds of the iconic Wanderers Club, bordered by the tree-lined avenues of Illovo in upmarket Sandton, Protea Hotel by Marriott Johannesburg Wanderers is a unique, premier destination for a wide range of events, conferences and private functions. There is ample free, 24-hour security parking and accommodation available for out-of-town guests in our 230-roomed hotel. In addition, to our own freshly re-imagined event venues, Protea Hotel by Marriott Johannesburg Wanderers manages 13 meeting and banqueting venues at the Wanderers Club. The event centerpiece at the hotel is our private outdoor Events Deck which can accommodate up to 100 people cocktail-style. The new, modern deck, set under the canopy of large, old trees has a stretch-tent roof for rain protection and outdoor heaters for the winter months. There’s a full-service bar and live-kitchen, as well as a DJ platform. It’s the ideal venue for corporate or private cocktail functions, product launches and personal parties. The hotel restaurant features a private room with dining and lounge areas, a bar service counter and a big screen TV that can accommodate functions for 30 to 40 people.
