The Old Town Hall was built in 1851 on a site occupied since the end of the 16th century by a Market Hall. Since that time it has been the hub of the entire town’s social activities through it s use for services and sunday Schools, debates, dinners, a Natural History Society, a Mutual Improvement Society, and the city Town Hall until 1964. In 1978 it opened as The Old Town Hall arts centre funded by Dacorum Borough council. The Old Town Hall Theatre, Gallery Bar and The Cellar are also available for private functions and performances. Charity discounts are available for all private hire spaces.
