Local Attractions

Camana Bay

Shopping
10 minutes away
For the people who live, work and play at this mixed-use waterfront enclave, Camana Bay feels more like a lively community than a typical shopping center. From sea to sound, over 650 acres are beautifully planned to inspire you from every angle. One glance at the colorful, contemporary design and it hits you: beautiful boutiques and fabulous restaurants are only the beginning. But let’s begin there, because Camana Bay is the island’s ultimate shopping destination, with local and international designer fashions, duty-free jewelry, luxurious skincare, stylish home accents and more. Press pause on your retail tour for a freshly squeezed juice, latte, glass of wine or handcrafted cocktail. Some of the island’s best restaurants are located in Camana Bay, as well. An unexpected treat at Camana Bay is the 75-foot Observation Tower, the perfect perch for panoramic vistas. The views along the way are just as amazing: a colorful mosaic of an underwater dive scene decorates the walls during your climb. (It took a year to hand-cut the 3 million-plus Venetian glass tiles, and eight months to lay them into the mosaic.) Hundreds of events are hosted annually at Camana Bay, including the Flavour Tour, a weekly dining experience, as well as family-friendly outdoor movies, live music/dance/theater performances and pop-up art exhibits. Of course, you’re in the Caribbean, so relaxation is incorporated into the scene. Sip your latte in one of Camana Bay’s four courtyards, some with sparkling fountains. Or lay back in a hammock on “The Island,” a peaceful spot to take in views of the North Sound. Kimpton Seafire guests can get to Camana Bay in about 10 minutes by car.

North Sound Golf Club

Recreation
10 minutes away
Whether you’ve been playing golf for years or just took up the game, North Sound Golf Club will make you feel right at home in Grand Cayman. It’s the only 18-hole championship course in the Cayman Islands, with gorgeous views from all 6,605 yards of this par 71 course. The signature 11th hole is especially picturesque—and a bit demanding, calling for a power shot over water to keep a double bogey off your scorecard. In fact, hitting a driver is not uncommon for this long par 3. But what’s really special about North Sound is how friendly and welcoming they are to golfers of all levels. Novices will be grateful for the five sets of tee boxes. Advanced players will appreciate being tested by prevailing trade winds—if it’s breezy, bring extra balls—and water, water everywhere, factoring into how you play almost every hole. Designed by England’s Roy Case in 1994, this is a links-style layout built in the style of traditional Scottish courses. The natural landscape was disturbed as little as possible so that everyone can enjoy the rolling terrain of coconut palms, mahogany and silver thatch, not to mention the occasional iguana lounging in the sun. (If only they could be trained to fetch wayward golf balls.) Beyond the greens, North Sound Golf Club also offers instruction from PGA pros, a fully stocked pro shop and “the island’s friendliest open-air bar.” We like the sound of that. The concierge at Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa will be happy to arrange your tee time.

Stingray City

Recreation
20 minutes away
Picture this: You jump from a charter boat into three to five feet of crystal-clear water. As you begin wading or swimming around, you find yourself surrounded by several dozen southern stingrays. You dangle a piece of squid and watch as the surreal sea creatures glide over to enjoy the snack. And as they drift by, you reach down and pet their silky-smooth bodies. Why, you can even pucker up and give them a kiss. Seriously. People do it all the time. Welcome to Stingray City one of Grand Cayman’s most famous and spellbinding destinations. Except for the beautiful beaches, Stingray City is the most visited place on Grand Cayman. No wonder. Think of the stories you’ll have to tell after hanging out with these flat, diamond-shaped creatures. The bottom of the sandbar is bright white, and the water is super clear, so you can see the rays clearly, even without a mask. Mingling with stingrays definitely qualifies as one of those we-can't-do-this-at-home moments. Stingray City is just a charter boat ride away from Kimpton Seafire.

Snorkelling

Recreation
Snorkelling is Cayman's greatest, easiest underwater adventure and an activity the whole family can enjoy. Recreation
2 minutes away
