Sofitel Barú Calablanca Beach Resort is located on the east part of Isla Barú, a 40 minute trip from Cartagena by boat. It is easily accessible by car – approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from Rafael Núñez International Airport and the historical city center of Cartagena de Indias We offer shared and private transportation options: Shared Transportation is available from the Airport to the Pier followed by a 43 feet catamaran that will take you to the Hotel. The vessel includes external spaces and interior relaxation areas with air conditioning, which allows for maximum comfort in case of rain. Single-use plastic free property As requested by Accor the use of single-use plastic is not allowed. We work with suppliers that have certifications of good environmental practices. Another of several actions to eliminate plastic has been the change of the keys to the guest rooms, which are now designed in wood. Also, all the waste bags in the hotel have been replaced by ones that are made with compostable and biodegradable elements.

Some new measures included in our enhanced cleaning routine are: Increased Frequency: We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection in the fitness room, focusing on high-touch surfaces such as exercise equipment, handles, and touchscreens. , reducing the risk of transmission of infections. Provision of Cleaning Supplies: We provide cleaning supplies such as disinfectant wipes or sprays for guests to use before and after using the equipment, encouraging personal hygiene practices. Staff Training: Our cleaning staff receives thorough training on proper cleaning and disinfection techniques specific to fitness room equipment and facilities.

Yes, at Sofitel Barú, we have adjusted and increased the cleaning routine for public bathrooms to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Some new measures included in our enhanced cleaning routine are: Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection. Focus on regularly restocking supplies such as hand soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. Display of visible cleaning schedules for guest reassurance. Employee training in proper cleaning and disinfection techniques. These measures are part of our commitment to providing a safe and clean environment for our guests and employees

Local school support The hotel has various programs in place with Baru’s school (food program, training program, motivation program, etc.) Local community support The hotel created a program called ‘Banco de Sueños Comunitario’ which gives the opportunity to any interested local business that meet our standards to work with the hotel (tour guides, artists, suppliers, producers, farmers, etc.) Local artist promotion Artist from the local community are invited to showcase their talent in the hotel. One of our F&B venues was entirely painted by the most prominent street artist from the island of Baru. Some of the activities that take up the local culture and seek to transmit it to the guests are the Turban Workshop and the Braid Workshop.
