About us
Newly refurbished The Red Lion Hotel at Whittlesford Bridge is a modern-day coaching Inn. Using locally sourced food cooked beautifully and simply we provide eating, drinking and lodgings in a traditional yet quirky setting. We are 'All things to all people' Parts of our building date back to the 13th Century when Carmelite monks carved the oak beams which are still in place today. We have plenty of nooks and crannies, low ceilings and wonky floors all of which sit comfortably alongside a 21st Century glass atrium and business centre featuring new audio-visual technology , The Red Lion offers complimentary on-site car parking and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. We have 18 individually designed bedrooms with swooshy showers, Hypnos beds, down and feather bedding, flat screen TV's and wi-fi. Rooms vary in size to executive single through to an impressive honeymoon room. A further 73 bedrooms are available in our sister property, The Holiday Inn Express Cambridge Duxford which is located directly opposite. Car parking is £6.00 per car per night for overnight guests, and is complimentary for day guests Weddings and gatherings of all sorts can be accommodated at the Red Lion, our rooms offer flexible layouts from corporate parties to boardroom-style director meetings. These light and beautifully designed rooms with several break-out options can seat up to 140 guests. In the summer months, enjoy local ales, Belvoir cordials and excellent British cooking in our Atrium or oak-beamed bar, whilst in the winter you can make yourself at home in front of a real log fire or curl up on a couch in the snug area. Throughout it's 700 years of history, The Red Lion has been a haven of welcoming hospitality. From providing a place of respite to destitute travellers in the 1200's, through to cementing its place in royal circles as King James I granted the Red Lion's first liquor licence. In recent times, it became the social hub for service men and women stationed at nearby Duxford Airfield. Now after extensive investment and refurbishment the Red Lion continues to open it's doors to welcome in the contemporary traveller and local community.

As a newly renovated coaching inn we have many quirky features throughout the property, Due to our low ceilings, wonky floors and quirky surroundings we do not recommend staying at our property for any guests with accessible access requirements or walking difficulties.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel due to covid 19, please advise the hotel of this as soon as you know. Due to the uncertain nature of the environment we are currently operating in, we reserve the right to withdraw or amend any booking or pricing to ensure the event complies with current government guidelines including social distancing. This is with the safety of our teams and our guests front of mind. We will endeavour to give 30 days notice, where possible, of any changes required. As such, we will continue to offer flexible terms and conditions, and currently will enable cancellation of any event without penalty should government guidance mean we cannot provide all elements as originally contracted. If you have any further questions, please contact the team directly and they will be happy to assist with your enquiry.

Our stunning newly built business centre is an original and bespoke venue, perfect for your next meeting, away-day, canapé reception or training day. We also have a range of different sized meeting rooms with plenty of interesting breakout areas all equipped with the latest audio-visual technology and WI-FI. We are ideally located for business travellers, being one mile from junction 10 of the M11 Motorway and located 1 Minute from Whittlesford Parkway station with direct links to Cambridge and London Liverpool street. We offer well sourced, individual catering packages suited to your personal requirements. Current Covid 19 guidelines is that we can only offer meetings of up to 30 people where social distancing must be maintained throughout. In public areas of the hotel, face coverings must be worn. Meeting rooms, public areas and bedrooms are being cleaned following our clean standard promise following all covid 19 guidelines.
