The Aspen Snowmass Nordic trail system began over 30 years ago with a group of volunteers setting trail on the Aspen Golf Course. This group has grown and developed into the Aspen Snowmas Nordic Council, a 501 (c)(3) whose main mission is to advocate fro and guide the ski trail system. In addition to advocating for Nordic skiing, the Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Council supports special trails projects to improve the overall skiing experience. As a nonprofit, the NOrdic Council accepts donations that are used to augment the Pitkin County Open Space and Trails funding.Our Nordic Trail System began almost 30 years ago with a few volunteers setting tracks with a snowmobile on the Aspen Golf Course. Thanks to years of vision, effort, and collaboration, today, our system offers 90km of FREE cross country skiing for the enjoyment by our residents and visitors.
