Mondrian Bordeaux Les Carmes

Discover Bordeaux’s long legacy of premium winemaking at the hotel’s sister property, Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion. The historic Bordeaux chateau was transformed into a new, modern winery in 2016 designed by Philippe Starck and Luc Arsène-Henry. The exterior design of the winery resembles a wall of metal resting on the bed of the River Peugue, emerging in a dreamlike fashion from the middle of the estate. Mimicking the shape of a ship’s bow, the winery serves as a reminder of Bordeaux’s seafaring history: a place where the sea has made wine’s fortune throughout the world.

Digital art center created in 2020 in Bordeaux’s former submarine base from WWII. The Bassins des Lumières, which are the largest digital arts centre in the world, presents monumental immersive digital exhibitions, dedicated to major artists in the history of art and to contemporary art.

The Cité du Vin is one of the major museums in Bordeaux to discover history and extend knowledge about wines from Bordeaux, France and worldwide. The venue is located at only 2km away from Mondrian Bordeaux Les Carmes fitting place as well exhibitions, shows, movie projections and academic seminars.

Saint-Émilion is a medieval city located at the crossroads of Bordeaux, Saintonge and Périgord. The town and surrounding vineyards was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, owing to its long, living history of wine-making, Romanesque churches and ruins stretching all along steep and narrow streets.

It took 20 years of hard work in the 18th century to build what has since become the city's very symbol! The square represents a break with medieval Bordeaux surrounded by walls for centuries. The city was finally free to grow! Adjoining to it, the "Miroir d'Eau" is less than 20 years old, and has become one of the city's main attractions. This spectacular pool, designed by landscape artist Michel Corajoud, alternates a mirror effect and artificial misting in an extraordinary way.

Located close to Arcachon, it is the perfect day-trip in combination with oysters and white tasting by the sea. The Dune du Pilat is a natural site imbued with exoticism and majesty. More than 103 meters high, 600 m wide and 3 km long, the highest dune in Europe offers a striking contrast on the forest, sand and ocean.
