Local Attractions

Olde Bedford Brewing Company

Nightlife
4 mi. away
In 1794, Bedford, Pennsylvania was at the heart of the Whiskey Rebellion as President George Washington personally led thousands of soldiers into this town to put down tax protesting patriots in Western Pennsylvania. In keeping with the history of “Olde Bedford”, we were inspired to carry this historical theme into our brewery. George Washington may have spent time in Bedford planning for the Whiskey Rebellion, but we know George loved beer! He even kept a record of his Small Beer recipe in his notebook while he was a Colonel in 1737. (Baron, 1962) Our beers are crafted with spring water and often hops (that we grow) on our own Hideaway Ranch, located in the mountains of Bedford County. As we create new brews, we will surprise your taste buds with unique and delicious flavors along with traditional brews we are sure you will love.

Flight 93 Memorial

Park
45 mi. away
While this excursion may be a somber one, it is part of our country's history and commemorates a day we will never forget. Part of this unforgettable day were 40 passengers and crew aboard one of the planes, Flight 93, which saved the nation from an attack on the U.S. Capitol. The Flight 93 National Memorial is located 30 miles east of Omni Bedford Springs Resort. There are three main areas on this national park to visit. The Memorial Plaza resides on the edge of the crash site, which is the final resting place of the passengers and crew, honored on the Wall of Names. Above the Memorial Plaza at the crash site, the Visitor Center Complex includes the Visitor Center with exhibit area, Learning Center, a parking area, Allée and Western Overlook trailheads, and the Flight Path Walkway and Overlook. Finally, there are 40 Memorial Groves, honoring the passengers and crew.

Blue Knob State Park

Park
25 mi. away
Blue Knob State Park consists of 6,128 acres of woodland at the northwestern tip of Bedford County. Guests can access the unique solitude and wilderness of the park any time of the year from sunrise to sunset. There are several areas, including the pool and overnight areas, that are subject to different hours. The park is named for its dome-shaped mountain, which is the second highest mountain in Pennsylvania. Given the park's elevation, temperatures tend be lower than the surrounding cities. If you're visiting in the summer, be sure check out the hiking trails, swimming pool, hunting grounds, horseback riding and mountain biking. Guests visiting in the winter can go cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and snowmobiling. Whatever activity you choose, Blue Knob State Park offers majestic views that will impress anyone. It's a unique attraction that any guest at Omni Bedford Springs Resort should take a day to explore.
