In 1961, the State Council designated the former imperial residence as one of China's foremost-protected cultural heritage sites, and in 1987 it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The summer palace is the largest royal park and being well preserved, it was designated, in 1960 by the state council, as a key cultural relics protection site of china. containing examples of the ancient arts, it also has graceful landscapes and magnificent constructions. the summer palace is the archetypal Chinese garden, and is ranked amongst the most noted and classical gardens of the world. in 1998, it was listed as one of the world heritage sites by unesco.

Starting from Chang'an Street in the south and end with National Art Museum in the north, Wangfujing Street extends for a total length of more than 1,800 meters. Being positioned as the most flourishing business quarter in Beijing, the forming of this charming street can be dated back to 1260s.

Tiananmen Square is a large city square in the centre of Beijing, China, named after the Tiananmen gate located to its North, separating it from the Forbidden City. The square contains the monuments to the heroes of the revolution, the great hall of people, the National Museum of China, and the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall . Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic in the square on Oct. 1, 1949, an anniversary still observed there. Tiananmen Square is within the top ten largest city squares in the world. It has great cultural significance as it was the site of several important events in Chinese history.

The National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) is a national art museum of plastic arts dedicated to collection, research and exhibitions of modern and contemporary artistic works in China. Starting to be built in 1958, NAMOC, with its title board inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong, was formally open to the public in 1963. NAMOC is a national cultural landmark after foundation of New China. The main building, roofed with yellow glazed tiles and surrounded by corridors and pavilions, features the styles of ancient Chinese attics and traditional architecture. The building, with 17 exhibition halls in its 5 stories, covers an area of more than 18,000 square meters. The museum boasts an exhibition area of 8,300 square meters. A modern collection storeroom founded in 1995 covers an area of 4,100 square meters.

Located in the center of Beijing and facing the north gate of the Forbidden City, Jingshan Park is superbly landscaped with hills to ascend by steps, clear lakes and dignified ancient buildings. It used to be one of the ancient imperial gardens in Beijing, and now has developed as a peaceful public park.
