PRESIDENT'S CORNER
As we head into the end of the 2020-2021 year and the end of my Presidency with MPI New England, I have been thinking a lot about the past year and my more than 10 years as a volunteer with the Chapter. Where we were in June of last year, having been through 3 months of Covid-world and not knowing what to expect as we started this MPI year. We have all been challenged personally and professionally in ways that we never would have expected. I have been challenged as a leader both with MPI and with my company and also with taking care of family who were immunocompromised. I was tasked with guiding and driving the chapter through this extraordinary time and accepted the challenge not knowing where the year would lead us as we navigated the unknown. Although it took longer than we may have expected back in March 2020, we are rebuilding, back on our feet, and will all be stronger than ever. Being able to gather in person, with no masks at Fenway Park for our June annual event was the perfect culmination of this year and my Presidency with MPI. RETURNING TO THE OFFICE

If you are feeling anxious about returning to the office and actually sharing common space with people outside of your immediate household — you are not alone. Remember that your feelings are normal; more than 2/3 of workers are also concerned. Be gentle with yourself and others during this transitional time. INDUSTRY SURVEY DATA
The latest PULSE survey from Northstar Meeting Group sheds some interesting light on the future of the events industry. A few takeaways from the study include: - 82% of all planners expect their next live event to be produced in 2021. - Hybrid continues to grow – 35% are currently planning hybrid. That’s up from 31% in April.
- Concerns continue to swing away from fear of travel and fear of contagion to hotel staffing as the #1 concern. - Planners are attending industry events. 60% now plan to attend one in the next three months, up from 46% last month.

MISSED THE MEETING

	On Wednesday, May 26th, MPI New England hosted a night of fun with Lindsay from Tyed with Love. Tie-dye kits were sent to the registrants in advance, and Lindsay walked through the steps to make amazing and unique tie-dye creations!
Attendees had a great time networking and creating their shirts, and they left the event with a fun takeaway to remember their MPINE experience. Check out the photo album on our Facebook page for great images of our evening together!

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Amy Hubbard, CMM CMP RSA Conference				How and when did you get your start in the event industry? I started in the event industry when I was in college. I went to Endicott College and part of my program was to complete internships. It was through these internships that I realized I wanted to work in the event industry. My first job out of college in the event industry was with the company I interned with my senior year. Tell us about what you are professionally doing now. I am a Senior Event Manager at RSA and I manage the day to day operations for RSA Conference US (San Francisco) and APJ (Singapore). I am also currently completing a micro masters program in Global Business with the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
What are some things you like to do outside of work? I love to travel and always have a trip booked. I also love to hike and run. I am currently training for a half marathon in that will take place this month at the Grand Tetons in Jackson Hole. I love adventure and trying new things with friends and family. When and why did you start volunteering for MPI? I started volunteering with MPI last year when I joined the Finance Committee. The event and hospitality industry was hit so hard during the pandemic, and I felt helpless. This was my way of giving back to the industry in a way I knew how.
