| | Dear WMCA Members, | As we dive into one of the busiest times of the year for clerks, I know many of you are deep into the preparations for the upcoming Presidential Election. The work we do is vital, and the level of detail and commitment required can feel overwhelming at times. I see and appreciate the tireless effort each of you puts into ensuring that our elections run smoothly and with integrity and so do many others. | I often wish the public could fully appreciate the dedication and effort that goes into our work, but that’s simply not part of our profession. So much of what we do happens behind the scenes, unnoticed and often misunderstood. Yet, we continue because we’re driven by a deep love for what we do and a genuine commitment to our communities. It’s that passion and sense of duty that keeps us moving forward with the integrity that defines us. | However, as we dedicate ourselves to the monumental tasks ahead, I want to remind you of something equally important—taking care of yourselves. The pressure of election season can quickly become all-consuming, and it’s easy to put self-care on the back burner. But remember, we can only do our best work when we are at our best, both physically and mentally. | Whether it’s taking a moment to breathe, going for a quick walk, or simply stepping away from your desk for a few minutes, please prioritize your well-being. Stress management isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity, especially during such a demanding time. | As we push forward with election preparations, I also encourage you to lean on each other for support. Our WMCA community is one of the strongest resources we have, and sharing knowledge, tips, and even moments of levity can make a world of difference. | Thank you for everything you do for your communities and for the state of Wisconsin. Together, we’ll get through this busy season, and I look forward to celebrating our accomplishments once the election is behind us. | Take care, and let’s keep supporting one another through this important work. | All the best, Elena Hilby President, Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association |

| | | Important Notice: Be Cautious of Fake Emails |
| We want to make you aware of an issue that has recently come to our attention. Several members have reported receiving emails that appear to come from the WMCA President, Elena Hilby, but are in fact fake. These emails are attempting to mislead or potentially harm recipients. | Please be extra cautious when opening or responding to any emails that look like they are from Elena, especially if they request sensitive information, ask for immediate action, or seem unusual in tone or content. Here are some key things to watch out for: | - Check the sender’s email address: Official WMCA communications will always come from an address you recognize. Be wary of any unfamiliar or suspicious-looking email addresses.
- Look for unusual requests: If the email asks for personal information, financial details, or unusual actions like purchasing gift cards, it’s likely a phishing attempt.
- Verify with us directly: If you ever have doubts about the authenticity of an email, please don’t hesitate to contact me or WMCA leadership directly to confirm.
| We take these reports seriously and are working to ensure our members' security. Your vigilance helps protect us all. | Thank you for your attention to this matter, and please stay safe! |
