| | Hello Professional Clerks! | I am sitting here in my office writing this article, looking out the window at the beautiful sunshine and wishing I was outside instead of here in my office. I hope that you are all getting the chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful summer we are having here in Wisconsin. | The August 13th Partisan Primary is almost here and I know everyone is busy getting prepared, but don’t forget after the Partisan Primary, is the Annual Conference August 29-30 in Middleton. With the General Election coming up in November we wanted to offer Election training. So, Friday morning the WEC will be giving us updates to prepare for the 2024 General Election. There is also an Election roundtable session available which will be facilitated by our Past President Wendy Helgeson and Incoming President Elena Hilby. Bring your questions. | The pre-conference sessions on Wednesday include: | - New Clerks Class
- Athenian Dialogue “This is Me: Loving the Person You are Today”
- 2024 WMCA Master Academy
- Understanding Harassment, Bullying and Hostile Work Environments
- Intersection of FMLA, ADA, and Other Leave Benefits
| Also on Wednesday, there will be Vendor time from 3-6 p.m. Make sure to stop and visit all of our awesome vendors. There will also be Vendor Demos that will allow clerks to get a better look at the products/services some vendors are offering. Please make sure to stop the by the vendor booths and say Thank You to our vendors. Our vendors support WMCA through scholarships, donations, training sessions and attending our conferences. | Wednesday evening we are going to Capital Brewery for some food, friends and Bingo! This is within walking distance of the hotel, but we will also have a bus available for anyone that doesn’t want to walk. | On Thursday we have our opening ceremony. The education sessions start with Liquor Licensing Updates – Act 73. Then we are offering eight breakout sessions that will repeat in the afternoon. On Thursday afternoon, Tina Barton is back. Her sessions at last year’s conference were at full capacity, so you won’t want to miss her session this year. | Our conference committee has done an outstanding job planning this event and there is still time to register for this fantastic training opportunity. The conference is also a time to network with other clerks, which we are all going to need after August 13th. | My time as President is winding down; I can’t believe the year is almost over. In August I will be passing the gavel to incoming President Elena Hilby (City of Sun Prairie). I know that Elena is going to be a strong leader for WMCA and she will continue to take our organization in the right direction. She has great ideas for WMCA. | It has been a privilege to serve as your WMCA President. Thank You to the WMCA Board, District Directors, Committee Chairs and Committee Members. You are all amazing! I am so impressed by how well our board and committees work together to get things accomplished. All of you made this year extraordinary and I am proud to be a member of this Professional Organization. Thank you for the opportunity to have served as your President. | “Keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.” – Marilyn Monroe | In appreciation, Cindi :) | Cindi Gamb MMC/WCPC/CMTW WMCA President |
