Abeer’s Story
Last week, a member of the MPIMP family and former Board Member, Abeer Srouji Allen rang the bell to announce completion of her 5-week radiation treatment. In August 2021, Abeer was diagnosed with a Pleomorphic Leiomyosarcoma Higrade. In English, it means a very rare, and very aggressive cancer in her thigh muscle. A rare diagnosis means finding a needle in a haystack when it comes to getting proper treatment and doctors familiar with the specific type of cancer. Because of this, Abeer has to go out-of-network for healthcare and pay up-front for her appointments. As a wife and mother of a 7-year-old boy, Abeer and her family need our help. We’re asking our members and community to support Abeer and her family by keeping them in your thoughts as they find their way through this difficult time.
