With great disappointment, MCAN has canceled Advocacy Day 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rest assured we'll keep you updated regarding other opportunities to advocate for college access and attainment. We will regroup next year with even more energy and change-making impact!

'FAFSA Stories' Series Features Detroit College Counselors
The Kresge Foundation "FAFSA Stories" series shares the stories of students who benefited from the grant-funded effort to boost FAFSA completion rates in 2017 and 2019. It also highlights the counselors and coaches who played a critical role in supporting students' FAFSA completion. One of the latest entries in the series is a Q&A interview with Detroit Cristo Rey High School College Counselors London Johnson and Jassadi Moore. Read more.

New Initiative from Michigan Virtual Will Grow AP Opportunities
In partnership with the College Board, Michigan Virtual has launched a new initiative to increase student participation and performance in high-quality Advanced Placement coursework online. The initiative aims to strengthen AP access across Michigan schools. Learn more.

College Access Impact Awards: Then and Now
Five years ago, MCAN launched the College Access Impact Awards to showcase the individuals and organizations making extraordinary efforts to improve postsecondary attainment. In 2015, six awardees were honored at the inaugural awards ceremony. In 2019, there were 11 honorees and a Board of Directors Award was established and named for Brandy Johnson, MCAN's founding executive director. The 2020 College Access Impact Award recipients will be announced Nov. 23 at the 10th annual MCAN conference.
