| | October brings the Tennesee Bar Association's Celebrate Pro Bono Month, which overlaps with the ABA's National Pro Bono Celebration, held the last week of October every year. Here at ACC Tennessee, we have plenty to celebrate in the area of public interest. In 2023, we welcomed our first Public Interest Sponsor, Bass Berry & Sims. We hope you will join us in person or virtually for their upcoming CLE on the Tennessee Innocence Project, taking place on October 26 at 5 PM Central. Earlier this year in response to tornado and storm damage in West Tennessee, ACC-TN member led by Board Member Meredith Wooten helped impacted families navigate the legal landscape to get much needed assistance. And later this month, ACC-TN, as a result of the efforts of our Knoxville and Chattanooga members, will be recognized as the Law Firm of the Year by Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LEAT). In its e-mail notifying ACC, LAET shared that, while ACC Tennessee is not technically a law firm, "[w]e truly cannot say enough about y'alls continued willingness to engage with Legal Aid & the Pro Bono Project." A well-deserved honor for the efforts of our East Tennessee Members and the leadership of Pro Bono Committee Chair Stephanie Chambers, East VP Brad Hendrix and Pro Bono Committee Member Martin Trimiew. This overview is a small sampling of the impactful work being performed by our members across the state. Thank you and keep up the important and impactful work. |

| | 2023 has flown bye! Next week, Chapter Adminstrator Emily Johannsen and I will be joining President Peter Malanchuk and Programming Chair Craig Webb in San Antonio for ACC Global's Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. That means we are one year away from the Annual Meeting taking over Nashville, in early October 2024. We have a strong contingent of ACC Tennesee members heading to Texas, and I am exciting for even more helping welcome in-house counsel from across the world to Nashville next year. | In just two short months, Diamond Sponsor Butler Snow will once again be hosting the year end Corporate Counsel CLE. With live meetings in Nashville and Memphis, as well as virtual attendance options, this excellent programming will ensure each of our members ends the year on the right note (and with their CLE obligations satisfied). Please save the date for this upcoming programming and plan to attend in person or virtually! |

| | Amber Hitchcock Director, Real Estate Legal | AutoZone, Inc. | How long have you been in-house? | 12.5 years in-house with AutoZone
| How long have you been a member of ACC? | This is tricky because I was a member of ACC under AutoZone when they has a corporate membership - I am just not sure how long that was. But currently, I've been an individual member for a month. |

| Tell us about a recent trip you've taken. | I recently sailed the Saronic Greek islands on a catamaran. During our 6-day sailing trip, we visited the islands of Aegina, Porros, Dokos and Hydra. It was an amazing way to experience the rich culture and history that Greece has to offer. |

| | Upcoming Launch of 1L Clerkship Program |
| Earlier this year, ACC Tennessee submitted a grant proposal to the ACC Foundation's Jumpstart Fund in connection with launching a platform for our sponsor firms to pair with in-house legal departments throughout the State to offer 1L clerkships designed to attract law students with a passion for DEIB principles to Tennessee. In May, ACC Tennessee was notified that our grant was awarded for the full amount requested. Our DEIB Committee is now embarking on the work of making this program a reality, with an anticipated launch date of January 2024 and a first class of clerkships in Summer 2024. Keep a watch for more information as our platform launches and opportunities to participate are announced. Thank you ACC Foundation! |
