Turn out was strong at the CAFO Roadshow hosted by New York Farm Bureau, the Northeast Dairy Producers Association, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Department of Agriculture and Markets and Cornell PRO-DAIRY. Four statewide seminars highlighted the changes in the recently released CAFO permits.
All CAFO farms must be covered by the new permit by July 24, 2017.

NYAAC Offers Help With Neighbor Newsletters, Twilight Meetings
|
The New York Animal Agriculture Coalition (NYAAC) is a farmer founded and funded organization whose mission is to enhance the public’s understanding of and appreciation for animal agriculture by fostering a dialogue with consumers, engagement with farmers and cooperation among members of the industry.
PRO-DAIRY supports the work of NYAAC, and PRO-DAIRY's Karl Czymmek serves as a technical advisor on their Issues Team. In their March 2017 quarterly update, NYAAC offers staff support for consumer
outreach efforts, including Neighbor Newsletters and Twilight Farm Tours. "Recognizing that dairy farmers don’t have a lot of time or money for public relations, this newsletter service is our attempt to entice farmers to engage in a dialogue with the public, and make themselves more transparent and accessible to those around them," says Executive Director Jessica Ziehm.
