Lubbock is also known for its thriving arts scene and, on average, hosts 2,300 cultural events each year. Take in the First Friday Art Trail each month or enjoy a walk through Texas Tech University's Public Art Collection, named among the top 10 in the nation by Public Art Review magazine.
Owned and operated by the city, the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center hosts more than 800 events and 80,000 guests each year. The center's downtown location is within easy reach of hotels, restaurants, shops, museums, the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts & Sciences, Texas Tech University, and Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. Events can be held in the 14,105-square-foot banquet hall, which includes a built-in stage; 40,000-square-foot exhibit hall with 11,000-square-foot balcony; 28,000-square-foot pedestrian mall; outdoor plaza; 200-person mezzanine overlooking the plaza; 1,395-seat theater; and 12 meeting rooms ranging from 702 to 2,100 square feet.
