The foremost spot in Barcelona for conventions is the seaside Barcelona International Convention Centre, or in the local parlance the Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona, which is in the district of Diagonal Mar. Covering more than 23,226 square meters and designed by Catalan architect Josep Lluis Mateo, an underground walkway joins the building’s two parts. It has an auditorium for 2,397 persons, 45 meeting rooms on three floors and two mezzanines and an exhibition hall measuring more than 9,290 square meters that can host up to 10,000 people.
