CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), Division of Behavioral Health is pleased to announce that it will again host the Behavioral Health Symposium Wednesday - Friday, October 5 - 7, 2022; this year’s conference will be held VIRTUALLY. This event informs professionals about best practices in the delivery of behavioral health services and supports, and is intended to benefit all organizations that currently contract with DBHDD’s Division of Behavioral Health. Each Symposium day (October 5, 6 & 7) will present a mixture of plenary sessions and presentations (designed as workshops or panels which are organized into four (5) tracks: clinical, cultural competency, leadership, paraprofessional, and recovery). The presentations will address best practices in treatment and prevention, as well as emerging research related to child, adolescent, and adult mental health and addictive diseases.
DBHDD is seeking proposals for presentations in all tracks. Presentations should be interactive and designed for one of the following presentation formats:
Symposium Tracks
Presentation proposals should address at least one of five Symposium tracks:
Clinical Track: Highlights competencies needed for providing effective treatment and prevention services and supports in behavioral health settings.
Cultural Competency: Designed to help behavioral health providers increase their knowledge and skills related to culturally and linguistically appropriate services, which are respectful of and responsive to the beliefs, practices and needs of diverse individuals. By tailoring services to an individual's culture and language preference, behavioral health professionals can help bring about positive health outcomes for diverse populations.
Leadership Track: Prepares behavioral health professionals for the leadership tasks they are called upon to perform in their field.
Paraprofessional Track: Focuses on equipping paraprofessionals with the necessary skills to support individuals in progressing towards recovery goals via empowering them and their support network to actively participate in their own behavioral health treatment and clinical interventions.
Recovery Track: Focuses on developing service capacities that signify a shift from crisis-driven services to a prevention-focused, strength-based continuum of care. Best-practices provide sustained support, and are based on the strengths, wellness, and hopes of the person in recovery.
