MRC Barcelona is the premier event for European payments and fraud prevention professionals. It will provide a platform to share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned with other merchants. Exceptional speakers and engaging, relevant content are crucial to the success of our conference.

Who Should Apply?

We encourage anyone with knowledge and unique perspectives on payments, fraud prevention, or security and law enforcement to apply. Merchant speakers are especially encouraged, and all solution providers must co-present with a merchant.

Please review the list of suggested topics before you submit.

All selected speakers will need to be on-site in Barcelona from 22-24 April 2024, to deliver their presentation in person at their allocated time and date.

Submission Requirements

Are you ready to bring fresh and engaging content to the table?

Speaker selections are made based on the strength of the abstract submissions and the speaker credentials, so please provide as much information as possible. 

All users starting a new submission will need to create login credentials to review our suggested topics and submit a speaking proposal. Before submitting your topic, please ensure any co-speaker will be able to travel. Speaking proposal acceptance is not linked to sponsorship.

Important things to note when submitting for this event:

  • The submission deadline is 1 November 2023
  • No more than three (3) submissions per vendor will be considered.
  • Merchant speakers will receive a complimentary registration
  • Solution provider speakers will receive a discounted registration
  • All solution provider submissions must include a named merchant speaker
  • Speakers must deliver their presentation in person (MRC is not responsible for any travel or accommodation costs)
  • The format of the chosen submissions may be changed to include the proposed speaker and topic as part of a panel, breakout, or roundtable in combination with another chosen speaker
  • MRC member submissions are prioritized during the selection process. If your organization is not a member, consider becoming one. Submit your membership application or contact the MRC Membership Team at membership@merchanriskcouncil.org for more information.
  • Possible formats:
    • Panel (4 speakers, including min. 2 merchants)
    • Presentation (1-2 speakers, including min. 1 merchant)
    • Interview/Fireside chat (2 speakers, in a question and answer format)

Advice for your submission:

  1. Tailor your content to an advanced payments and fraud prevention audience
  2. Provide educational material that dives into problem-solving and technology
  3. Describe how the content is relevant to merchants
  4. Strictly no sales pitches or marketing content
  5. Original content only
  6. Include key takeaways
  7. Use a catchy title, true to the topic at hand
  8. Incorporate real-world applications and case studies
