Workshop Formats

The National Conference will be a hybrid event in 2024, meaning that while the event will occur live and in-person in Dallas, some sessions will be available virtually for an off-site audience. During the workshop application, you will be given the option to select if you prefer to present in-person, virtually, or both.

In-Person Workshops: These workshops will take place onsite in Dallas and be presented to an in-person audience. The structure of these workshops should be driven by desired outcomes, which should be clear to attendees from the workshop description. Participants should come away with practical ways to apply what they have learned. We expect that these workshops will have up to 120 in-person attendees.

Virtual Workshops: These workshops will be delivered live during the 2024 National Conference virtually from the speakers' own home or office. Like In-Person Workshops, Virtual Workshops should focus on desired outcomes and offer practical solutions for attendees. We expect Virtual Workshops will have up to 100 attendees.

In-Person and Virtual: Speakers will also be given the option to deliver their workshop both in-person and virtually, meaning they will deliver their workshop twice; once for the in-person audience onsite in Dallas, and again for the live virtual audience. We will work with these speakers on appropriate scheduling and to ensure they have the proper equipment and space to present virtually from the host hotel in Dallas.

Both In-Person Workshops and Virtual Workshops are 75-minutes long. We recommend speakers plan to deliver a 60-minute presentation and budget for up to 15 minutes of Q&A time at the end of their presentation.

Panel Sessions

Panel sessions should have no more than four presenters, and each presenter should represent a different organization to ensure a diverse range of voices and perspectives are represented in each session. You must add all panelists to your workshop at the time of submission. Panel options are extremely limited.

Conference Tracks

Presenters should submit workshops designed to help Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies build a strong infrastructure for growth, which depends on implementation of next generation technology; innovation of one-to-one mentoring models to address community needs; transformational marketing to engage more volunteers and donors; and strengthening the tools, resources, and training for agencies.
