Call for Speaker Presentations

City Parks Alliance is pleased to announce our Call for Speaker Proposals for Greater & Greener 2024! We are interested in framing, and setting the table for, conversations between speakers and participants around the complex challenges we all face, and how we are working in partnership to create more equitable, vibrant, resilient, and inclusive communities.

Greater & Greener provides four different session types for you to choose from:

  • Panel Dialogues explore complex topics from multiple perspectives and include a moderator and 2-3 speakers. Panels may include presentations and moderated discussion, or just moderated discussion, followed by audience Q&A.
  • Peer Conversations are facilitated discussions among a small group (10-25) on either a topic of shared interest (e.g., biodiversity, youth programming, safety, etc.); a shared perspective as practitioners from the same sector (e.g., public agencies, nonprofits, philanthropies, design consultants, community organizations, issue advocates, etc.); or a shared identity (e.g., practitioners of color, women practitioners, etc.). They focus on sharing ideas, challenges, perspectives, and advice. If you submit for this track you will be facilitating the conversation.
  • Innovation Rounds are for sharing innovative approaches to complex challenges on a related topic and offer more interactive discussion. They include an introduction by a moderator and brief (10-minute) presentations from 3 speakers, followed by small breakout groups with each.
  • The City Parks Research Lab provides presenters the opportunity to display new research and hold in-depth conversations with conference attendees. Poster boards can be left on display throughout the conference, but individual session times will also be promoted for attendees to visit the Lab to meet with presenters and discuss their work. After the conference, some presenters will be featured in a virtual program as well.

City Parks Alliance will curate some sessions by placing individual speakers together. To include as many strong proposals as possible, we may also ask to change the format of your proposal to fit the program.

Learn about the Four Conference Tracks and Five Cross-Cutting Themes to inform your proposal submission.

Proposal Submission & Speaker Selection Process:

1.  Presentation proposals must be submitted on or before July 14, 2023.

2.  Teams of volunteer subject matter experts will review proposals within each track. Reviewers will be seeking to balance the session formats, tracks, speaker diversity (of many kinds), the intended knowledge level of the proposal (e.g., introductory, intermediate, or expert), and prioritize proposals that address our five cross-cutting themes where possible.

3.  CPA member proposals will be given priority. Check your membership status here. If you are not a current member, you can renew or become a member here

4.  Selected speakers will be notified by December 2023.

5.  Speakers who plan to attend any part of the conference outside of their own session must register for the conference and may do so at a reduced speaker rate.
