About the Scholarship

The scholarship includes a full four-day registration, including provided meals, and a double occupancy room (to be shared with another student) for the nights of August 30 through September 1, 2022 at the Prescott Resort and Conference Center. There will be 10 scholarships awarded.

The following meals are included:

  • Tuesday, August 30 Continental Breakfast and Lunch Buffet
  • Wednesday, August 31: Continental Breakfast, Plated Lunch, and light hors d'oeuvres served at the Map Gallery Opening
  • Thursday, September 1: Breakfast Buffet, Plated Lunch, and Dinner Buffet
  • Friday, September 2: Breakfast Buffet and Boxed Lunch

Details

  • Each student scholarship winner will be given 5 to 10 minutes to speak in the Student Lightning Talks session. This is a great opportunity to showcase your work and/or a little bit about why you choose this field of study. (Potential future employers may be in the audience!)
  • Scholarship applications are evaluated based on the following criteria:
    • Meets the submission eligibility guidelines as outlined below
    • Expressed need for scholarship
      • Describe how it will promote your academic and/or professional pursuits
      • May be based on financial hardship (describe circumstances as basis for financial need)
    • Clearly articulated summary of how geospatial technology integrates into your program of study and future goals
    • Strength of recommendation from program advisor
    • Show off your cartographic prowess and receive an extra evaluation point added to your scholarship criteria points when you submit a map to the Best College Student Map category in the 2022 Maps & Apps Challenge.  Must be submitted by 5:00pm (MST/PDT) June 10 , 2022. 

 

Submission Guidelines

To be considered for these awards, students must:

  • be currently enrolled in, or have graduated within the past 6 months from, an undergraduate or graduate program in GIS or related field
  • submit the application before 5:00pm (MST/PDT) June 17, 2022
  • have your program advisor provide a reference letter/email to Cheryl Thurman ckthurman@terrasw.com before 5:00pm (MST/PDT) June 17, 2022

Students selected will be notified by July 15, 2022.
