This year’s AMA Health Systems Science Student, Resident and Fellow Impact Challenge will be focused on how medical students, residents and fellows across the country have applied health systems science to impact patients, physicians and health systems.

Submissions from individuals or teams should show impactful learner-led activities or projects and describe the components of health systems science that informed those activities.

Think impactful. Think innovative. Think inspirational.

The most impressive submissions will clearly demonstrate how the individual’s/team members’ training in health system science influenced the project design—and will report measurable results.

The competition is open to all U.S.-based medical students, residents and fellows. Eligible projects should address one or more of the health systems science domains shown below.

Qualifying submissions will be eligible for the following recognition:
Showcased in print in the 2022 edition of Medical Students and Residents Making an Impact. View the 2021 edition here .

Winners will:

• Receive cash prizes* (first place: $3,000; second place: $2,000; third place: $1,000; three honorable mentions: $500 each)
• Present their stories at the AMA's ChangeMedEd^® 2023 conference in Chicago (first, second and third place only)
