Submissions for the 37th Australasian Finance and Banking Conference (AFBC) will open on the 8th of August 2024.

The 37th Australasian Finance and Banking Conference (AFBC) is organised by the Institute of Global Finance at UNSW Business School, Sydney, Australia. The Conference will be held on 11–13 December 2024. The location of the conference is at UNSW Campus. The AFBC is the most significant and prestigious finance conference in the Asia-Pacific region.

Keynote Speakers and Forums

The keynote speakers include:

As part of this conference, there will also be an

International Forum on CBDC's, Fintech, and Digital Finance, 

Keynote speakers of this forum include 

Agostino Capponi, Center for Digital Finance and Technologies, Columbia University

Lin William Cong, Cornell University.

There will be also International Fora on the Opportunities and Risks of AI Technologies in Finance and Challenges and Opportunities Associated with Climate Finance. 

The names of keynote speakers of these two international fora will be announced in due course.

PhD Forum

Date: 10th December 2024

Keynote Speaker: Itay Goldstein, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania  

The 37th AFBC conference will include a PhD Forum for advanced Finance Doctoral Students who are currently working on their dissertation. The one-day forum will offer accepted PhD candidates the unique opportunity to present their research and have their work discussed by distinguished academics. At the PhD Forum, students will receive valuable advice about career development from eminent scholars and will discuss recent developments in finance literature.

Can I send you my paper directly?

No, please submit it via the portal.

How do I submit my paper?

Please go "Submit paper" or  "Login" > "Need to create an account?" > Follow the prompts

Does the paper have to be complete, or can I just submit my abstract?

The paper should follow the format that you usually see in major international journals. If you are unsure of the format, please consult with your supervisor or colleagues. There is no specific page limit. Please note that full papers must be submitted, not just an abstract.

Can I revise my paper after submitting?

You will be able to edit or make revisions to your paper until the deadline, 11:59PM Friday 16th of August. To do this, please go to 'My Submissions', there will be an option to edit to the right of the uploaded paper. If you have any issues during the submissions process please contact bankconf@unsw.edu.au

Can I present multiple papers?

Each author is entitled to a single presentation. In the event that you have more than one paper accepted, a co-author may complete a separate registration in order to present that paper. If you are the sole author of the paper or a co-author is unable to present it, you will need to select only one of your papers for presentation.

Why can I not submit a second paper?

Each email address can only be used once to submit a paper. Therefore please get a co-author to submit the paper under their email.

Can I chair a session?

Yes. Please indicate your interest in chairing a session when prompted during the registration process.

How to do submit my paper for the PhD Forum?

Submit it as you would a normal paper, there will be an option to select to be considered for the PhD Forum. However, even if the paper is not selected for the presentation at the PhD forum, your paper will be simultaneously assessed for a relevant session of the actual conference program too.
