The American Medical Association invites medical students and residents to submit an abstract for presentation at the AMA Poster Showcase. The poster showcase will occur during the 2025 Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates in Chicago, IL.

Key Dates & Requirements

  • Final submission deadline on May 11 acceptance letters dispersed on a rolling basis
  • Showcase times:  Friday, June  6, 3 pm to 5 pm in the Lower Level of Hyatt Regency Chicago.
  • The primary author MUST be the presenting  author and is required to attend the Poster Showcase
  • One presenter per poster.
  • Multiple abstracts will not be accepted.
  • Maximum poster size: 36"H x 48"W
    • Posters that exceed the maximum size will not be allowed to present

 

Categories

Basic Science & Translational: Posters in this category will present research related to basic science, including studies on the underlying mechanisms of diseases and potential therapeutic targets.

Clinical: Posters in this category will showcase research related to clinical practice and patient outcomes, including studies on disease diagnosis, treatment, and management.

Case Reports: Posters in this category will describe unique or rare patient cases and their diagnosis, management, and outcomes.

Public Health: Posters in this category will showcase research related to public health initiatives, health promotion, and disease prevention efforts.

Advocacy & Policy: Posters in this category will showcase research related to healthcare advocacy, policy development, and its impact on healthcare outcomes.

Leadership: Posters in this category will showcase research related to leadership in healthcare, including studies on healthcare management, education, and mentorship.

Health Equity: Posters in this category will present research related to health disparities and efforts to promote health equity.

Wellness: Posters in this category will showcase research related to promoting wellness, including studies on lifestyle, mental health, and self-care.

National Medical Student Organization: Posters in this category will showcase National Medical Student Organizations and Associations (eg. COSPG, LMSA, AMSA, etc).

LGBTQ+ Health: Posters in this category will showcase research related to the LGBTQ+ Community.

Other (Medical Education, Bioethics, etc): Posters in this category will showcase research related to medical education, bioethics, and other miscellaneous topics in health-related research.

 

Submission Process:

In order to submit your abstract through the Poster Showcase abstract website, which is on a CVENT platform, you must first create an account. Click on the “Log In” link located in the top right-hand corner of the site. Then, click on the “Need to create an account?” link to create your account.

Next, enter your first name, last name, email address, and password. Lastly, click on “Create.” Once you have completed creating your account, you can submit your proposal. Please note that you will need to create a new account for the AMA Poster Showcase, even if you have submitted it to prior AMA meetings or grant programs.

Click “Begin Submission” Located at the Bottom of the Page. Fill out submitting author and corresponding author information, including all required fields. Once on the proposal site, select “Begin Submission” to generate a new proposal submission form. You may make multiple submissions. Once submitted, however, individual submissions cannot be edited.

A form will open up with fields to input all abstract information. Be sure to fill out all required fields, which are designated with an asterisk (*).


Abstract Criteria:

The abstract must not exceed 500 words, excluding the abstract title, page numbering, or any ancillary entrant information.

Citations or references are not a necessity with the abstract. If your abstract is accepted for consideration, you may include citations or references with your poster.

Verify your submission information, and please review your submission details to ensure they are correct before submitting

When all information is complete, select “Submit” at the bottom right of the page to submit your abstract.

After you complete your submission, you will receive an automated acknowledgment email. Keep a copy of this receipt for your records, along with a copy of the submission documents.

Once the abstract is submitted, no changes can be made. Submitting authors are not permitted to re-enter the abstract submission system to make any changes.

 

Abstracts will be reviewed and selected for presentation by leadership across multiple AMA-MSS standing committees including the AMA-MSS Committee on Scientific Issues (CSI), the Committee on Global and Public Health (CGPH), the Committee on Bioethics and Humanities (CBH), the Committee on Health Informatics (CHIT), and the Committee on Medical Education (CME).

Please note, presenters may submit one abstract per person for consideration. It is acceptable to present research at the AMA-MSS Poster Showcase that has previously been published and/ or presented at another conference or research event. The Author must be a member of the American Medical Association as of the abstract deadline.  Any abstract submitted must be either solely the entrant’s original work; or the entrant must be the lead author; and have authorization from co-authors.
