Call for Research Papers 2025

CFP Board Center for Financial Planning is excited to collaborate with the Academy of Financial Services (AFS) in its annual Advanced Research in Financial Planning Conference, to integrate a robust research track into the second annual CFP Board Connections Conference from October 6-8, 2025, in Chicago!

This year, AFS will celebrate its 40th anniversary. As such, the research theme is “40 Years of Advanced Research in Financial Planning: Reflecting on the Past, Driving the Future”. This international meeting of researchers, practitioners, graduate students and leaders of financial planning practice and services provides a showcase for rigorous, relevant research within financial planning, as well as disciplines that directly or indirectly relate to financial planning knowledge and/or practice.

The conference committee welcomes completed papers on topics related to the conference theme. Although extended abstracts can be submitted, completed papers will receive significant preference and will be a requirement for consideration for best paper awards. Suitable topic areas may include:

  • Financial Planning/Financial Planning Education
  • Behavioral Finance 
  • Household Finance 
  • Human Sciences 
  • Diversity & Inclusion in Financial Planning
  • Psychology and Human Decision-Making
  • Financial Therapy, Literacy and Wellness
  • Consumer Finance and Regulation
  • Policy Implications in Financial Planning
  • Practice Management
  • Cryptocurrency & Portfolios 
  • Financial Technology 

Submission Process: You must upload a full copy and a blind copy of the file. The cover page of the full copy should contain the names, addresses and institutional affiliations of all authors with one author listed as the primary contact person. The blind copy should not contain any author identifying information on the PDF itself. All papers will be considered for oral presentations or poster presentations. Each submission will be reviewed anonymously by at least two peer reviewers. One author from each accepted paper must be registered by July 31, 2025. Papers already accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal will not be considered. Authors of accepted papers will also be asked to serve as discussants for other papers.
