Call for Abstract Proposals
2024 ACGME Annual Educational Conference

The ACGME invites proposals for abstracts for the 2024 ACGME Annual Educational Conference. The conference will be held Thursday, March 7, through Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida. Over the course of three days, the conference will welcome guests from across graduate medical education (GME), which will encourage opportunities to engage and connect with colleagues through educational sessions and exciting activities! As always, the ACGME’s signature learning event will offer a breadth and depth of content for all in GME and those passionate about education and collaboration.

Selected abstracts will be displayed on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Marvin R. Dunn Welcoming Poster Reception and Exhibitor Kick-Off to the 2024 ACGME Annual Educational Conference. Members of the GME community are encouraged to use this opportunity to share their innovations and research with peers. The ACGME encourages medical education outcomes-based research and evaluation.

Conference participants are strongly encouraged, but not required, to be vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 to attend the conference.

Marvin R. Dunn Poster Reception

Marvin R. Dunn, MD was the ACGME’s Director of Review Committee Activities and a nationally renowned figure in the medical community. Dr. Dunn was intimately involved in the institution of poster sessions at the Annual Educational Conference from their inception, as both a judge and councilor. He took great delight in the innovative presentations that encompassed all areas of graduate medical education, and enthusiastically watched the development of best practices related to the Core Competencies and work hours requirements. The ACGME is honored to name its poster reception in his memory.

Criteria for Selection

Abstracts must include all of the following to be considered:

  1. Background: clearly articulated context for project or research study, including relevant literature
  2. Objectives: substantive, clearly stated purpose of the project or research study
  3. Methods: clear description of how the project or research study was conducted and/or implemented, with sound and appropriate project/study design
  4. Results/Outcomes/Improvements: clear and unambiguous statement of what changed and how
  5. Significance/Implications/Relevance: implications of the project or research study beyond the local setting

All accepted abstracts will be presented and/or displayed as a poster on site at the conference. Presenters must register for the conference. Do not submit an abstract if attendance at the Annual Educational Conference is questionable. Posters without at least one registered author will not be displayed.

Accepted poster presenters should prepare a poster and be available to discuss it on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Eastern.

Oral Poster Presentations

Those who submit an abstract will have an option to select to be considered for an oral poster presentation in addition to representing their poster at the Marvin R. Dunn Welcoming Poster Reception and Exhibitor Kick-Off. Those selected for oral poster presentations should be available for the Poster Reception AND from 12:45 p.m.-3:45 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, March 9, 2024, which may impact travel plans. Oral poster presentations consist of 10 minutes for presentation and five minutes of Q and A. Posters will not be moved into the presentation room.
