As the new school year approaches, many things still feel uncertain. How will this next school year be different? How will it impact you and your peers? How can you support your school community during this unprecedented time?
The Points of Light Youth Summit Pitch Contest is an opportunity to put your plans into action, by pitching your plan for a project designed to make a difference in your school community.
How Does it Work?
To enter, applicants submit a short video (90-seconds or less), that identifies a challenge facing your school community during the new school year and presenting a project plan to address it.
Five winning pitches will be selected to receive a $1,000 grant to help implement their projects in the fall. Pitch Contest winners will be announced at the Points of Light Youth Summit on August 19, 2020.
Who is Eligible to Submit a Pitch?
This pitch contest is open to individual youth or groups of youth (ages 13-18) in the United States, with an adult sponsor from a tax-exempt school or 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
The projects should be developed and lead by the youth, and must take place in the Fall, 2020.
Requirements:
• Each person that appears in the video must be at least 13 years old
• Each person that appears in the video must sign the Media Release Form and email it to info@generationon.org. Presenters under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian’s signature.
• To be eligible for the grant, projects must have an adult sponsor from their school or affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization who agrees to accept the grant funds on behalf of the school or nonprofit organization, should the pitch be selected as a winner. Grant funds can only be awarded to a nonprofit or school, and cannot be awarded to individuals.
