The National Criminal Justice Training Center (NCJTC) of Fox Valley Technical College announces the Solving Crimes through Emerging Technologies Conference in Las Vegas, NV on January 13-15, 2026. In an era where connected devices (cars, phones, wearables, smart devices) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are ever-present, their role in gathering evidence and intelligence has become critical, for law enforcement and prosecution. These devices are always watching, listening, sensing, creating logs and data that can be pivotal in criminal investigations. They help place suspects at crime scenes, establish timelines, and corroborate or refute statements made by individuals involved. We will discuss how finding and preserving this evidence can protect the innocent and improve trust.

During the conference, we will dive into the data and information internet-based devices create/record which can indicate a person’s proximity to a crime and establish relationships between victims and suspects. Industry trends, techniques, and emerging opportunities that internet-based technologies present for criminal justice officials will be discussed.

In order for communities to support law enforcement’s use of these technologies, they must be accessed in a legally and ethical manner. Current case law and best practices will be discussed by experts in the field. Specialized training tracks will be offered in the areas of home monitoring and security devices, smart wearables, tracking devices and vehicle data systems. Other internet-based devices will be considered as well.

We are seeking submissions that will engage the audience through lectures, interactive and hands-on instruction, case studies, experiential learning, and skill enhancement instruction.
