PRESENTATION TYPE
PAPER - Paper sessions are allotted 15 minutes (10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions and answers). All papers that are not accepted as oral presentations will be considered for a poster presentation.
POSTER - Poster sessions allow presenters to present their work visually on a posterboard. If accepted, authors are expected to present their findings during one of the assigned Poster Sessions.
WORKSHOP - Workshops are longer sessions that are primarily interactive rather than didactic and offer practical experience to help participants increase their understanding and skill in a particular area. Abstracts must include an outline of the lesson plan for the workshop session, describe active-learner teaching techniques to be used in the session, and indicate how much time will be devoted to each portion of the lesson plan. Time devoted to didactic lecture cannot take up more than 40 minutes of the total workshop session (90 minutes).
SIG PANEL – SIG PANEL DISCUSSIONS - These sessions are offered as forums to stimulate significant discussion around a special topic. The time allotted per panel is one and a half hours (90 minutes). In general, each panel has a chair or two co-chairs and up to four panel members. Each panel member is to present a brief stimulating presentation on the panel topic designed to evoke questions and discussion. The presentations should take up no more than half the allotted time. The remainder (approximately 45 minutes) is for participant/panel discussion. Panel presenters should be members of the AED. Exceptions can be made at the SOC’s discretion.
CLINICAL TEACHING DAY – These 4-hour sessions are a combination of didactic and interactive activities that are designed to address clinically relevant issues in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eating disorders. Abstracts must include learning objectives of the session.
RESEARCH TRAINING DAY - These 4-hour sessions are a combination of didactic and interactive activities that are designed to address specific topics relevant to planning, conducting, analyzing, and publishing eating disorder research. Abstracts must include learning objectives of the session and a description of the activities that are to be included in the session.
