The Living Future Conference, ILFI's annual flagship event, showcases leadership, inspires action, and builds a community to advance the regenerative movement. Each year, we address urgent issues at the intersection of climate, health, equity, and nature in the built environment. Attendees gain valuable insights, connections, and solutions for advancing regenerative development. The event attracts a diverse group of thought leaders and change agents, including architects, urban planners, facility operators, real estate developers, AEC professionals, product manufacturers, policymakers, interior designers, educators, and advocates.

2025 Conference Theme: Accelerating Regenerative Action
We’re experiencing a thrilling surge of momentum to harmonize regenerative design goals, frameworks, and definitions, setting the stage for accelerated action. As we celebrate this progress, it’s also critical to address and dismantle the barriers that are still slowing us down.

Program Focus Areas
Climate: Advancing Climate Innovation and Resilience
We seek sessions on cutting-edge climate innovation and resilience in the built environment, highlighting game-changing strategies and success stories that empower our community to make a tangible impact on mitigating climate change.
Health: Designing for Holistic Health and Well-being
We invite proposals exploring how design, construction, and operations intersect with health and wellness, focusing on topics like healthy building materials, indoor air quality, biophilic design, and strategies that promote overall well-being.
Equity: Fostering Equity through Regenerative Design
We seek sessions highlighting how regenerative design can advance social equity and justice, focusing on inclusive practices, equitable development, and strategies addressing systemic inequalities in the built environment.
Nature: Integrating Nature for a Regenerative Future
We seek proposals emphasizing the integration of nature within the built environment, focusing on nature-based solutions, biophilic design, urban green spaces, and ecological regeneration to demonstrate how the built environment can play a role and coexist with and enhance natural systems, promoting a thriving, biodiverse future.
Seeking professionals in AEC, sustainability, real estate investors/owners/operators, manufacturing, policy, and business who are bold visionaries and innovators in climate, health, equity, and nature. Interested in speakers that bring new case studies, resources, research, solutions, business models, policies, and technologies that advance, challenge, and inspire the regenerative movement.
Please note that ILFI staff may not participate in the Call the Proposals and must decline any invitation to be included on a session proposal.
Accepted Session Format
Each session must be designed to engage and inform attendees over a 60-minute period. There may be a maximum of four speakers in a session. To ensure a dynamic and interactive experience, sessions must be structured to include a blend of presentations, at least one interactive activity (e.g. poll, table discussion, design activity), and time for audience Q&A.

Session Review & Selection Considerations
We are thrilled by the increasing number of session proposals each year, though with this comes heightened competitiveness. Our goal is to curate a program that delivers outstanding value, transformative experiences, and celebrates diverse voices within the regenerative development industry. Key Dates
August 1, 2024: Call for Proposals released
September 15, 2023: Due date for proposals - by 11:59 pm (PST) No extensions will be made.
September - October 2024: Proposals under review
By end of October 2024: Proposal acceptance notifications sent
November 2024: Sessions and speakers published to conference website
December 31st, 2024: Signed speaker agreements and speaker conference registrations due

Speaker Benefits
Accepted conference speakers receive a complimentary session pass or a 50% discount on a full conference pass that includes a one-year Living Future Membership, either as a new membership or a renewal. Conference passes must be purchased by December 31, 2024. Past speakers have highly valued the opportunity to showcase their work with a high quality audience, build lasting business relationships, and inspire sustainable change.
