AAVMC 2020 Annual Conference Call for Proposals

The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for faculty and students to share their work and ideas during the 2020 AAVMC Annual Conference, March 6-8, 2020 in Washington, D.C. Proposals for educational sessions should be submitted no later than September 16, 2019. The theme of our 2020 conference is “Catalyze 2020: Innovate & Inspire.” Following extensive work with a respected meeting and conference management consulting firm, we are introducing some exciting changes this year. Instead of focusing on diversity and inclusion programming every other year in the Iverson Bell Symposium, we are now featuring content in this vital area during every conference. To foster more interaction among registrants, we are providing networking lunches. And this year, our conference is going to include a “Use of Animals in Education Symposium.” Proposals will be considered in the following categories. • Research • Diversity o Curriculum o Institutional Climate • Education o Artificial Intelligence/Virtual Reality o Future of innovation • Finance • Mental Health The following attributes are encouraged for educational sessions: • Evidence-based presentations that examine research and survey trends • Presentations that feature interactive learning and/or small group discussion • Proposals from collaborative, multi-institutional teams • Incorporation of interprofessional perspectives • Proposals with an international or global focus Before logging in to complete your proposal, please be prepared with the following information: Proposal type: session (workshop, panel, or other), individual presentation, poster Proposal title Proposal category Primary contact name Primary contact email address Primary contact phone Author list (please include name, email, degrees/certifications, title, and institution) Speaker list (please include name, email, degrees/certifications, title, institution, and short bio of 250 words or less) Speaker list (please include name, email, degrees/certifications, title, institution, and short bio of 250 words or less) • Please limit panels to no more than 4 members so that speakers have adequate time for participation. A 300 character (max) abstract describing the topic, message and intended outcome. • Submit 3 session learning objectives. • If there is an action-oriented takeaway please describe in one sentence. • Include 2-3 scholarly references underpinning the presentation topic. • A 2-3 sentence description to publicize your presentation in the conference program and app (for sessions and presentations only) Preferred length (for sessions and presentations only) (30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours) For session proposals only: Session format (workshop, panel, other) Draft agenda (1 page maximum)
