British Columbia Fish & Wildlife invites you to submit an abstract for the 2025 Workshop! 

The theme of this year's event is: 

Modernizing Deer and Elk Management in the Face of Changing Values, Technologies, Diseases, and Habitats

Presentation Opportunities:

The workshop will offer multiple formats: Plenary Presentations, 20-minute Contributed Oral Presentations, and Poster Presentations. All presenting authors must register and attend the meeting in person. Submitting an abstract does not register you for the workshop.

Topics of Interest

Authors are encouraged to address the topics of interest related to and highlighting Western Deer and Elk species in this workshop during submission.  These include but are not limited to: Recreational Impacts; Human dimensions; Connectivity and migration; Habitat management; Disease; Advancements in Technology and Methodology; Harvest Management; Tribal, First Nation, and Cultural Importance

Abstract Review & Selection Process:

Peer reviewers will rate abstracts using the guidelines below. A brief opportunity for abstract edits will be offered after acceptances are sent.  In some cases, the workshop may require a revised abstract to be considered for acceptance. The approximate timeline for the review process is as follows:

  • Submission Deadline: January 27, 2025
  • Review Process: Early to mid February, 2025
  • Decision Notifications: Mid to late February, 2025
  • Registration Opens: Mid to late February, 2025

Abstract Submission:

The Call for Presentations deadline is January 27, 2025 11:59 p.m. PT.

Please submit an abstract only if you plan to attend the meeting. Presenting authors must be registered for the conference on the day of their scheduled presentation.

Important information about abstract formatting and uploading:

  • Abstracts must be under 300 words, and should include: a statement of objectives and a brief description of methods, results, and conclusions. 
  • Formatting should follow JWM guidelines
  • Abstracts must be uploaded as a Word document.
