Submission and Selection Process

SUBMISSIONS DUE BY FEBRUARY 11, 2025 AT 11:59 pm CT.

We are currently accepting session proposals for ALA’s 2025 Chapter Leadership Institute, taking place July 17–19 at the Omni Oklahoma City Hotel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

We encourage individual members as well as members of ALA's volunteer groups, chapters and business partners to submit! ALA’s Chapter Leadership Institute brings together some of our most-engaged members for training and networking opportunities with other chapter officers and volunteer leaders.

We are in search of session proposals from groups or individuals interested in sharing insights regarding leadership skills as they pertain to managing ALA chapter activities.

Proposals will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • Is the topic innovative and relevant?
  • Will the session help elevate ALA, its chapter and individual members within the legal profession?
  • Will the session appeal to ALA’s seasoned volunteers as well as those new to their role?
  • Is the session well-organized and designed to meet the needs of this particular audience?
  • Will the session provide tips and/or tools that attendees can begin right away?
  • Is the session format ideal for this audience? Does it involve participants in meaningful application activities?

Selection Process
Please note that in most cases we limit presenters to being involved in no more than two sessions per event. We suggest that you first develop your submission proposal in Word and then copy and paste the information into the appropriate sections online. To help expedite the submission process, it will help to have the following information readily available:

  • The date and title of your most recent ALA presentation, if any
  • Your biography
  • Your most recent professional headshot
  • Details related to at least two prior speaking experiences, if available. You will need the name of the event and hosting organization, the date of the event, and the name and contact information for your point of contact.
  • Links to video footage of your prior speaking engagements, if available
  • The proposed session title and description
  • At least three learning objectives
  • Details regarding any interactive activities that will be incorporated into the session
  • The contact information, biography and professional headshot of your co-presenters, if any

Creating a Login

Please note that this system is not tied to your membership account. To save and come back to your proposal, please create a new username and password.  If you submitted a proposal to present at ALA's 2025 Annual Conference & Expo, your same username and password will not work as a new login/password is required for each abstract portal.
