DBIA-WPR 2025 Education Summit & Awards

It is imperative that the below is read and understood fully before utilizing the "Submit Abstract" button.

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) – Western Pacific Region (WPR) will be hosting its Education Summit & Awards (previously know as Regional Conference & Awards Program) on Tuesday, August 19th through Friday, August 22nd, 2025, at the Gaylord Pacific Resort, Chula Vista (greater San Diego), California and you are invited to submit a proposal for presentation! Presentation sessions will occur on Wednesday, August 20th and Thursday, August 21st.  (Please ensure your full panel is available on both dates before submitting. Presentation time slot could be on either Wednesday or Thursday.) 

This year’s education summit theme is Building our Future Leaders. Primary areas of interest for presentations this year based on the education summit theme and our membership feedback are mentorship, leadership, and progressive design-build.

The summit provides a platform for experienced, knowledgeable, and well-spoken industry professionals to share leadership and mentorship examples and key aspects of Design-Build project delivery. Be an integral part of the DBIA WPR, as we educate our membership, and promote the value of Design-Build project delivery and the effective integration of design and construction services to enhance the value proposition for owners, practitioners, and everyone in our community.

SUBMITTALS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28th, 2025 at 5:00 PM PST.

Although there is no restriction on topics, the primary focus this year will be Mentorship, Leadership, and Progressive Design-Build.  Suggested potential topics of interest are listed below.

ONLINE PRESENTER & SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

All submissions must include:

•  All submitted papers must follow the same format as requested during the online submission 

•  All submitted files must be labeled with the primary presenter firm/organization name

•  Primary Presenter and Co-presenter(s) Name, Title, and Full Contact Information  

•  Headshots as a jpeg for all presenters

•  Bio’s (one page or less – preferably 500 words or less) for all presenters

Do not submit unless all items in the above guidelines are included.

 

PRESENTER AGREEMENTS

All presenters must be in agreement with the following, prior to submitting:

•  The Primary Presenter to be prepared and agree to serve as the main point of contact, including coordination with co-presenters, and ensuring that each presenter registers and pays online for the full education summit within 2 weeks of selection notification.

Speaker Registration Rates:

EDUCATION SUMMIT ONLY: Speaker - $750.00 (reserved for those presenting)

EDUCATION SUMMIT & AWARDS COMBO: Speaker - $850.00 (reserved for those presenting)

 

• Adding or changing presenters after acceptance of the presentation proposal will not be allowed, except under extenuating circumstances. 

• All presenters agree to provide a copy of their presentation 1 week in advance of the education summit in pdf format. Please email pdf to admin@dbiawpr.org.

• All presenters agree that their presentation can be shared with attendees. Any specific business-sensitive information not in the public domain not to be shared with attendees needs to be clearly identified as part of the submission.

•  Presenters will be financially responsible for full education summit registration and hotel fees. 

Presenters name, title and credentials will be listed as submitted. Please confirm information with fellow panelists.

•  If utilizing an admin assistant, do not enter them as a presenter.  Please add them only in the ADMIN section.
