Submission Process Guidelines:

  1. All submissions will be reviewed by an AMTA Anonymous Review Committee.
  2. All proposals must be submitted using this form by the due date. Submissions received later or by alternate means will only be reviewed if space/time allows.
  3. AMTA Committee-sponsored presentations are required to submit through this online process and must adhere to the same submission guidelines and deadlines.
  4. Proposal reviewers will base their recommendations on the following criteria: content relatedness to the CBMT Board Certification Domains; diversity, equity, inclusion and access considerations; expressed interest and need for members; content quality and organization of proposal/thoughts; timeliness of topic; and whether the topic is considered innovative. Every attempt is made by the Conference Team to present a balanced educational program. Presentation acceptance decisions are based on, but not limited to, consideration for number of proposals submitted on similar/same topic, number of sessions submitted by a presenter, space limitations and any other factor deemed appropriate to ensure a balanced and diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible program.
  5. Please write your abstract in active language, describing what people will get or experience from your session (i.e., avoid using, “This presentation will…”) The AMTA Conference team may edit your submissions for grammar, length, clarity, and consistency of language and form with all other abstracts.

Required information is noted with the *. Please include all relevant information (even if the field is not marked as required) for your session proposal.  Fields that are not required and not relevant to your proposal may be skipped.

The AMTA Professional Competencies (2013) and AMTA Code of Ethics (2019) require that music therapists demonstrate awareness of cultural identities, intersectionality, and areas of privilege and power; humility in how these influence the therapeutic process; and professionalism in delivering culturally-sensitive and accessible services.  In developing and delivering conference presentations, presenters must engage in self-reflexivity and consideration of multiple perspectives in the development of their proposed topic and presentation of information, and are encouraged to consider demonstration of this preparation in their conference submission.

You are also required to abide by all copyright and privacy law.  As you develop your course, please ensure that you have full permission to share any music, videos, or other resources you will employ in your presentation, in the format in which they will be presented. If you aren't sure whether copyright law applies, it's often best to find a resource you are sure you may use.
