Who Should Apply?

We encourage anyone with knowledge and unique perspectives on payments, fraud prevention, or security and law enforcement to apply. Merchant speakers are especially encouraged, and all solution providers must co-present with a merchant.

Please review the list of suggested topics below before you submit.

All selected speakers will need to be on-site in Barcelona on 28-30 April 2025, to deliver their presentation in person at their allocated time and date.

Are you ready to bring fresh and engaging content to the table?

Speaker selections are made based on the strength of the abstract submissions and the speaker credentials, so please provide as much information as possible. 

All users starting a new submission will need to create login credentials to review our suggested topics and submit a speaking proposal. Before submitting your topic, please ensure any co-speaker will be able to travel. Speaking proposal acceptance is not linked to sponsorship.

Important things to note when submitting for this event:

  • The submission deadline is 30 October 2024
  • Submissions are limited to:
    • Members:
      • Two per solution provider membership
      • Two per merchant
    • Non-Members:
      • Two per company, merchant, or solution provider
  • Merchant speakers will receive a complimentary registration
  • Solution provider speakers will receive a discounted registration
  • All solution provider submissions must include a named merchant speaker
  • Speakers must deliver their presentation in person (MRC is not responsible for any travel or accommodation costs)
  • The format of the chosen submissions may be changed to include the proposed speaker and topic as part of a panel, breakout, or roundtable in combination with another chosen speaker
  • MRC member submissions are prioritized during the selection process. If your organization is not a member, consider becoming one. Submit your membership application or contact the MRC Membership Team at membership@merchantriskcouncil.org for more information.
  • Possible formats:
    • Panel (3-4 speakers including a minimum of 2 merchants with a moderator, 3-4 slides are required and should include key takeaways)
    • Presentation (1-2 speakers including a minimum of 1 merchant; presenting a report or findings)
    • Interview/Fireside chat (2 speakers in a question-and-answer format with a minimum of 1 merchant, 3-4 slides are required and should include key takeaways)

  • Tailor your content to an advanced payments and fraud prevention audience
  • Provide educational material that dives into problem-solving and technology
  • Describe how the content is relevant to merchants

Q: What is the Conference Committee’s selection criteria? 

Speaker selections are made based on the following criteria: 

  • Strength of the topic  
  • Speaker credentials – Subject matter expertise, seniority, job role, etc. 
  • Solution providers must have a merchant co-speaker 
  • Fresh, interesting, or differentiated perspective on a topic 
  • Content perceived to be salesy or biased towards products or services will be rejected 

Q: What else do I need to know? 

  • Sales pitches will not be accepted  
  • Speaking proposal acceptance is not linked to sponsorship 
  • The Conference Committee reserves the right to narrow down or expand the topics, taking into consideration the quality of submissions and current industry developments. 
  • The Conference Committee may request that you change your format or include or remove some of the proposed material as needed.   

Q: What important dates do I need to know? 

  • The submission deadline is 30 October 2024
  • Conference registration opens 3 December 2024
  • Decision notification target date 25 November-2 December 2024

Q: When will I know when the decision of the Conference Committee? 

An email will be sent to the submission contact once a decision is made 

Q: How do I start my submission? 

  • All users will need to create new login credentials to submit a speaking proposal.   Once you have created a log-in, you will be brought back to this page. Click on the Resume Submission button to finish your submission.
  • If you need assistance with the submission, please reach out to speaking@merchantriskcouncil.org.

Q: Do I get a discount for speaking? 

  • Up to two merchant speakers per company in a single session will be eligible to receive a complimentary registration.  
  • Solution Provider speakers receive a discounted rate on conference registration.  Solution Providers are limited to 1 discounted speaking pass per company
